A skillful musician based in Montreal, John Guzik is an accomplished choral conductor, academic, lyric tenor, and organist. He is the Artistic Director of Seraphim Chamber Choir, a Lecturer at McGill University’s Schulich School of Music, and Assistant Director and Organist at the venerable St. Patrick’s Basilica.

Research

Specializing in scholarship that addresses the aspects of space and spatialization in choral music. Dr. Guzik has researched the integration of spatial elements as an inherent feature of the artistic concept and how these concepts can be manipulated as a compositional device. He has diversified into topics on eighteenth-century concerted Masses, innovations in late Renaissance Franco-Flemish choral music, and investigated the structure of dance forms in choral repertoire.
