Choral Music and the Arts

Dr. Guzik’s research has explored the pivotal topics of spatial properties in choral divisi and choral works relating to metaphoric references of space. These concepts have been divided into three specific areas of interest: literal applications of space as a measurable distance, symbolic or metaphoric concepts of space, and contemporary notions of space in choral music. The study draws attention to the extent spatial relationships are interconnected within the structure and analysis of choral music. This knowledge can be applied beyond the limiting association to a specific artistic venue.

In other fields, he has addressed the integration of dance forms in choral music, and examined the role of palliative and compassionate choral communities in Canada. These topics have been presented at the National conference of Choral music PODIUM 2018 in St. John’s Newfoundland, and at Toronto in 2022.
